Y CVn are a synth and drums duo, the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Aron Ward and drummer John Bell. Formed in 2013 with their feet firmly planted in Bristol’s fertile and nurturing DIY scene, they quickly established themselves as a strong and unpredictable live act, taking everything from house parties to festival stages in their stride with seemingly little regard for the size of room they were in or how many people were watching. Their lo-fi approach to a technically hectic live set up often meant failing equipment and technical setbacks became springboards for wild improvisations aimed directly at the dance floor. To quote: “Synths are fucked up.”

Always at the heart of the matter however, is Ward’s (son of Black Sabbath founder Bill) genuine gift for crafting intricate, memorable and melodically complex songs, their sound so much more rich and layered than simply a sonic onslaught

Why is feminism important to you?

We're really proud to be a part of something that will hopefully bring awareness to feminism in our time. It's crucial. Equality is dying everyday we ignore the facts. Just because were two idiots that generally have our tops off at shows and shout about flying spaceships into the sun doesn't mean we don't give a shit. Perhaps it's our totally rad friends both women and men or our upbringing that made us feel like we had to be involved but that's not relevant. What's relevant is getting your own perspective and making a personal positive change in this world for all us fuckheads - men and women alike.
